New
England Futsal is gearing up for 2008 National
Championships
Saturday,
March 12, 2008 5:30 PM
Futsal is
growing nationwide and our good friends at
Maryland Futsal, the host of this year's US Futsal
National Championships, are encouraging select
teams from all regions to participate at the
National Championships being held at the Baltimore
Convention Center July 10-13, 2008.
As futsal continues
to grow as a sport in our region, as the level
of play continues to advance, and with the US
Futsal National Championships being held so close
to home this year, collectively this poses a
tremendous opportunity for the futsal teams &
players from our area who want to make a sincere
attempt at bringing home a National Championship
Title.
With that goal in
mind, New England Futsal is arranging to assist in
developing select teams in each of the competing
age groups and provide professional futsal
training & coaching to our local teams beginning
at the end of April and running consistently
through to the National Championships in July.
Each of these teams will have the opportunity to
train directly under a world class professional
Brazilian futsal coach who will be on hand from
May through to July to specifically train each of
our teams headed to this year's national
championships.
If your team is already committed to competing at
the National Championships please contact us ASAP
to arrange to take advantage of the professional
training that will be made available this late
spring and early summer.
If your team wants
to participate in the National Championships and
wants the endorsement of the Massachusetts Futsal
Association, we want to hear from you!
If you're a player
who feels you can contribute by being included on
a roster of select futsal players from
Massachusetts or nearby Rhode Island, then make
yourself available for the National Team tryouts
on April 8, 2008 at the Mansfield Sportsplex, 31
Oxford Rd, Mansfield, MA or on April 14, 2008 at
Bishop Connolly High School, 373 Elsbree St., Fall
River, MA.

This is a great
opportunity for our local area futsal enthusiasts.
The US Futsal Northeast / Mid-Atlantic Regional
Championships hosted in Massachusetts this past
February was, by all measures, a resounding
success. Massachusetts came away from the
regional competitions with more gold medals than
any other state in our region. This will be the Federation's
initial attempt at having the National
Championships on the east coast. Combined
with the Federation's willingness to expand upon the
opportunities for teams to compete at the National
level this will serve to benefit all of the teams
wishing to be involved from our area. Don't let this opportunity pass
you by.
