A UNIQUE Age Group
Futsal titled “International Junior Futsal
Friendship Cup” for Under-12 and Under-16
children will be held at the Sports Planet
Futsal Centre in Ampang on March 5.
The event, jointly
organised and sponsored by the FA of
Malaysia (FAM), SportsUnite, European Union
Malaysia Chamber of Commerce & Industry (EUMCCI),
the National Sports Council (NSC) and Milo,
is a platform for young children of
international and local schools of mixed
nationalities and races to interact and
compete in the spirit of international
camaraderie and in a carnival atmosphere.
Entries are open on a first come first serve
basis.
Datuk Dina Rizal, executive director of
SportsUnite, said: "On behalf of SportsUnite,
we like to thank FAM, NSC, EUMCCI and Milo
for their support in making this event a
success. It is unique as it's the first time
a special effort is made to organise an
event that has a fair balance of
international and local school teams.
"It is a great way to promote international
friendship through sports. Besides the
juniors enjoying the interaction and making
new friends, we are confident they will also
develop their talent and skills in the game.
"The opportunity to play against teams from
international schools who may display
different styles from what our school teams
are exposed to. The objectives of this event
reflects the spirit of SportsUnite.
"This is our 14th junior event since our
launch in April last year focusing on multi
racial participation in the spirit of
friendship and unity.
"My thanks to Marco Winter of EUMCCI for
developing this idea with us." The press
conference was chaired by FAM
vice-president, Datuk Seri Dr Ibrahim Saad.
