07/22/2005:
Pride FC Boys U10 are 3rd in Nation |
|
|
 |
The Pride FC Boys U10
Futsal Team of Fall River, Massachusetts awarded
3rd place in last weekend's United States Futsal
Federation's, National Title Championship Games held
at the Anaheim Convention Center in Anaheim,
California. This year's national championship games
mark the United States Futsal Federation's 20th
anniversay in running this national title event and it
has grown into a prestigious event catering to the
highest quality Futsal teams from throughout all
regions of the United States in age groups from U10 to
adults. The Pride FC Premier Futsal and Soccer club
is based in Fall River, Massachusetts with its roster
of players representing Fall River as well as most
surrounding towns. The U10 team plays competitive
socccer in the Maple league during the fall and spring
seasons and it plays as a select Futsal squad during
the winter months in the Norfolk County Futsal
League as an affiliate of New England Futsal.
The Pride FC Boys U10 team
qualified as a national title contender when it placed
second in the eastern region of the United States at
the United States Futsal Federation's regional
championship games held in Monroeville, Pennsylvania,
last Februray. Pride FC Director & Coach, Bill
Sampaio along with Coach Matt Albertini are very proud
of this young team of dedicated athletes. Coach
Sampaio said, "the U10 Boys were matched up against
the finest teams in the nation and certainly had their
work cut out for them". "This year we came up just a
little bit short, but each and every player intends to
make a return trip to the finals next year in
pursuit of gold medals", added Coach Albertini. "This
is a fantastic squad of athletes to coach and they
are one the verge of great successes" says Sampaio.
"Fall River is a city rich in soccer tradition",
says Coach Bill Sampaio and it was our intent when we
began the Pride FC Soccer and Futsal program just a
little less than 1 year ago to embrace that aspect of
this community and to show people how young athletes
can benefit from playing Futsal. This U10 Boys team
showed just how much of a competitive edge can be
developed by the skills learned in Futsal. Futsal is
world reknown as providing the "competitive edge" to
soccer phenoms like Pele, Ronaldo, and the up and
coming Robinho. These players all attribute much of
their success and skills development to the sport of
Futsal. I grew up playing the sport of Futsal in
Brazil and I know it will elevate the talent level
here in soccer leagues throughout the United States"
says Coach Sampiao. "We are hopeful that Fall River
can be the hub of Futsal growth for our region of the
country where children can play it throughout the
different seasons of the year, at schools and in their
communities. The Pride FC Boys U10 team just put
another feather in the cap of Fall River and the New
England Region, at large, by placing third in the
nation.
