03/06/2006:
Mansfield, MA - The Norfolk County
Futsal League announces that is has officially registered it's
140th team for league play in this the 2005-2006 futsal season,
making it the largest such futsal league in all
of New England.

Norfolk County
Futsal League (NCFL) is run under the direction
of Bill Sampiao, who is also the National
Director of Coaching for the United States
Futsal Federation.
NCFL is the flagship
futsal league of New England Futsal and
operates as a United States Futsal Federation
(USFF) sanctioned league.
The United States
Futsal Federation is
the only officially
recognized national governing authority that
oversees all Futsal league development, policies
and competitions throughout the United States
under the auspices of the United States Youth
Soccer Association and FIFA.
Last year, in our
inaugural year, the NCFL registered 74 teams
throughout the entire winter season. "We are,
once again, ecstatic with the response and
interest players and coaches
have shown and we are humbled by the confidence
they continue to place in our growing futsal program here at
Norfolk County", says Bill Sampaio. "This is,
yet another major milestone for our program.", adds Sampaio.
Not only are we
experiencing such positive growth, but we
are attracting interest from the state's top
teams in all age brackets who want to compete at
Norfolk. Now we are able to provide the
very top level of play that premier futsal
competitions can offer in this region of New
England along with our existing divisions of
development teams.
Geographically, the
majority of teams are from the immediate area,
but a growing number of teams travel quite some
distance to compete at our central Massachusetts
location. The communities of Chelsea,
Framingham, Sandwich, New Bedford and
Norwell are just a few of the outlying areas
represented by futsal teams that are competing
at Norfolk County Futsal.
In 2005, the Norfolk
County Futsal League was proud to have
placed teams as
Massachusetts State Champions or as 1st
Runner-ups in all divisions of play, ranging
from U10 to Men's Open at the annual United
States Futsal Federation sanctioned Massachusetts
State Cup Championships that took place last January
'05.
Additionally, NCFL coordinated sending
13 of it's league's
futsal teams to compete at the United States
Futsal Federation's Region 1 Championships held
in Monroeville, PA in February.
Twelve of those teams advanced into the
semi-final match round play and 3 teams,
including the Pride FC BU10 of Fall River, New
England Futsal Mens team of Framingham & the
GU16 Shooting Stars of Natick made it to final
round match play.
At the USFF National Championship games held in
Anaheim, CA last July, five
teams from Massachusetts place as medalists.
Four of those teams were Norfolk County Futsal
League teams, including the
Shooting Stars GU16, the New Bedford Pitbulls
GU12, the Pride FC BU10, and the New England
Futsal Academy Men.
In January 2006,
the Norfolk County
Futsal League was once again well represented in
the annual Massachusetts Futsal Association's
State Cup Championships. Out of the 7 age
categories comprising the event, 5 of the
categories were championed by Norfolk County
Futsal League teams and in 4
of those categories Norfolk County Futsal League
affiliate teams placed as 1st runner up.
Norfolk County Futsal continues to lead the
state in the level of youth futsal played in
Massachusetts, as is evidenced by these results.
We
recognize the fun and excitement that Futsal
offers our players and fans alike, but we
know too that things will stagnate if there
isn't proper training made available to these
teams who have made a commitment to playing and
studying futsal. As a result, and in
addition to the New England Futsal Academy
training conducted in Mansfield and Fall River,
New England Futsal just recently
announced a new training and camp partnership
with the world renown Tetrabrazil Soccer
Academy. New England Futsal affiliate
leagues, clubs, teams and players will be able
to take advantage of professional level soccer
and futsal training regiments designed
specifically for our youth programs at
discounted pricing. In addition to the
four summer camp programs, New England Futsal
affiliate teams that are currently training for
the 2006 USFF National Futsal Championships
being held in Anaheim, California in July shall
benefit from a
professional, comprehensive, high quality soccer
& futsal training with FIFA recognized “A”
Licensed Brazilian Soccer Coaches here at home
Norfolk County
Futsal League's regular season games are played
on four brand new adjoining futsal courts each weekend at
the state of the art Dana Barros Sports Complex
in Mansfield, Massachusetts. In addition
to competitions, the NCFL sponsored New England
Futsal Academy led by Coach Sampaio offers
personalized skills and technical training to
